Is the juice worth the squeeze? Call it a question or a saying; I don’t really care whatever you want to call it, but the fact remains that I’ve come to love it over the years.
If you’ve worked with me before, you’ve undoubtedly heard me say it, and on many occasions too. I wish I could say that I made it up, but an old boss said this to me years ago. I took it and ran with it and have lived with it ever since.
This particular question always comes into play when I’m confused by why a client adopts a particular tactic, or when I realize that a client has not considered or thought about how the result relates to efforts required.
Is the juice worth the squeeze means ‘is the time and energy needed worth the outcome?’ The answer to this question often leads to uncovering areas of opportunity to maximize the hours daily put to work.
Time is a limited resource that we don’t get back. Once it is gone, it is gone. We can’t get more of it. And I am all about maximizing the time that I have and making sure that I still have a work-life balance.
How are you spending your time? What are the results that you are hoping for? Are you getting those results? Are you maximizing the time that you have? Could you get better at focusing your time and energy to areas that are most important and that have the most significant impact?
When working with clients, they are always surprised when I uncover better ways to streamline their ongoing responsibilities, to make time for things that are more important. This happens so often that I’m willing to bet, that I’ll be able to uncover ways to add more time to your schedule.
If you’re up for the challenge of proving me wrong, I invite you to respond. I welcome the opportunity to help you get the most juice out of your squeeze.
